Spotlight Indie began in September 2024 with our first indie author event in Shrewsbury. Organised by just two people in three months – what can we say? It seemed like a great idea at the time – and it turns out, it really was. While our first event connected authors, readers and creatives, we quickly realised something even more special was happening. In a world where isolation can feel overwhelming, the genuine warmth and sense of community that emerged from people coming together and supporting each other through their shared love of storytelling was truly inspiring.
The event was a success, and from that, Spotlight Indie was born. Since then, we’ve evolved into a six-person team with a growing programme of online and in-real-life events. We’re excited to be a place where you can discover your next favourite read, dive into the writing process, find advice and connect with the indie community.
